Blogging on Hold

My {30 Day Photo Challenge} blog posts and any other possible posts are currently on hold for 2 reasons.

{1} My computer power cord stopped working.  Waiting for the replacement to arrive in the mail, hopefully this weekend.
{2} Monday is Day 1 of my CNA class.  I will be dead to the world for the next 3 weeks.  I didn't think through the timing of my photo challenge very thoroughly, did I?

I invite you all to come back and visit at the end of the month when my life returns!
Xoxo, Rachel

PS- Walked past this guy and his wife on Main Street in Park City, UT last night.  For the first time in my life I was almost start struck.  Haha!  Go figure.

Photo Challenge Day 4 - 4th of July

My favorite picture from the 4th of July is of my dad teaching the kiddos about the flag and the reverence we have for it as citizens of the United States of America.  This country is inspiring...

Photo Challenge Day 3 - Home

Sunday night was spent with family at my mom's house.  I usually go over there after church to have dinner with my mom and dad.  Because my sister-in-law and her kids are in town for a month or so, there is a lot more action going on.  My other sister even brought her family down from Layton to join in on the fun!

Best picture of the night is of my niece, Maya.  This is the first time she's been in the states for the 4th of July since she was 2, and her first time with a sparkler EVER!  It was so much fun!

Photo Challenge Day 2 - Stadium of Fire

I went to Stadium of Fire in Provo on Saturday night.  I love going to this because it is a culmination of a lot of great patriotism and things that make America what it is.  You have parachuters, military fly over, country music, fireworks, dancing.... its just my kind of thing!

As with the rodeo, I'll post all the goods in a 4th of July post.  For now, here's my favorite picture from the night!

Photo Challenge Day 1 - Oakley Rodeo

July 1 was the first day of my 30-Day Photo Challenge.  Since I was heading up to the Oakley Rodeo with some family, I thought this would be a great time to figure out a little more about my camera. I know it can do a lot of cool things...which is why I bought it of course...and my sister figured out some things while we were running Ragnar WB, but I had no idea how to use it myself!  So lame, I know.

Okay, so last night I figured out how to put it on the setting that takes multiple pictures in a row, AND I learned how to adjust the shutter speed and light exposure so I could take pictures in the low light.  Here is my favorite from the night!  I still don't know what anything is called, but I'm sure that will come.  By the way, this photo is untouched.  My camera is just that cool! (and I don't know how to use any photo editing programs, haha)

There were also some other great shots from the night.  I'll post those when I do my 4th of July post.  What a weekend I plan to have!

30 Day Challenge

I dare you to....

Try something new for 30 days.  The time will pass anyway.  Why not make it memorable?

I found this website, http://www.ted.com/, "IDEAS WORTH SPREADING."  Talk about great movivational speeches all in the same location!  This particular video stuck out to me as I am continually trying to do/learn/experience new things.  We've all heard that doing something 20 times creates a habit.  Well, who would have thought that doing something new 30 times will send you on a path of trying new things and challenging yourself for the rest of your life?  I didn't until I watched this video.  But now thinking back on the idea, I can, in fact, testify to it.  Last summer when I did my weekly "Something New" challenge, it put me on the path to doing new things for the rest of my life.  I've accomplished so many exciting things since then.  It helped me create a zest for life!

Now repeat with me...
I will take this challenge.  For the next 30 days I will... [insert challenge here].

As for my challenge? I will take a picture each day and post it here for you to see my progress.  I plan to find something meaningful, beautiful, or even a new type of photograph I've never done.  I've always said I wanted to be better at taking pictures.  I even went as far as buying a nicer camera (do I know how to use it well yet? No.)  Here's my chance!

What is your challenge?
